FLUKTEN
LYTT til det utrolige vitnesbyrdet fra to som på mirakuløst vis ble reddet fra både det nordkoreanske og det kinesiske regimet:
Hjelp én nordkoreansk avhopper i sikkerhet
Mange venter i livsfare. Vil du redde én?
Ja, jeg vil redde en avhopper:
AVHOPPER:
Bring light to girls who have survived darknes
"My daughter, 17-year-old Kehkshan is my entire world. Her name means 'galaxy", and it fits her – she is bright, and she used to walk joyfully to school, a mile from our humble home in Lahore, Pakistan. A year and a half ago, something changed. Men began tormenting her terribly as she walked home, shouting horrible things at her because she is a Christian. Extremist propaganda has spread like a disease here in recent years. My wife insisted that our son Maqbool, who is 19 years old, needed to escort her home from school from then on. That helped, and soon she was walking home safely again.
We are a poor Christian family, working hard as day laborers for low wages – but we managed. But on August 4, 2024, our lives were shattered.
Kehkshan was home alone. My son and I were at work, and my wife was at the doctor's office for a routine appointment. Suddenly, there was frantic knocking at the door. Kehkshan saw a woman outside and opened it. "Your mother has been in accident, and she is critically injured! I will take you to her," the older woman urged. Believing this malicious lie, Kehkshan went with her.
When we arrived home and realized our daughter was gone, panic set in. Neighbors reported seeing her forced into a car by men known for extremist views. I found their location and went there immediately. A man at the door told me Kehkshan had "embraced" Islam and married Yasir, her kidnapper. When more threatening-looking men appeared, I rushed to the police station, believing they would help. Instead, all they saw was a poor Christian father who "claimed" his daughter had not truly converted. They brushed me aside with a piece of paper so I file a police report and sent me home.
After a sleepless night, we returned to the extremists' neighborhood, but they would not even open the door. After days of confusion, fear, and panic, I finally reached out to Muslim community leaders. Recognizing that something truly wicked had occurred, they decided to intervene. A few days later, and after many negotiations, they managed to enter the extremists' house and were able to bring Kehkshan out with them. Finally, I could protect her again. She was in a horrible state, so we took her to the hospital. Kehkshan showed great bravery when recounting all she had been through," says Taj, Kehkshan’s father.
Medical examinations revealed Kehkshan had endured multiple sexual assaults and abuse. She described being forced to sign numerous documents related to marriage and conversion to Islam. Police arrested Yasir, but the other four suspects managed to flee. Kehkshan and her family cannot return home due to serious threats from the kidnappers and their community. It is no longer safe for Taj, nor his son, to work as day laborers – an additional burden on the family.
With legal help from our partner, Human Friends Organization (HFO), the trial against the kidnapper began on March 13, 2025. Legal aid in Pakistan is costly, and lawyers willing to take on human rights cases risk retribution. Ensuring police protection, securing evidence and witnesses, and annulling false marriages and conversion documents is critical for victims to gain justice.
Kehkshan and her family urgently need support from kind people like you to secure safe housing, daily necessities, and legal aid to bring the perpetrators to justice. Every year, more than 1,000 Christian and Hindu girls are abducted, forcibly converted, and married against their will by extremists. When corrupt local authorities and police fail to act, young girls are easy targets.
"Like so many others, Taj’s family has endured horrific violence, harassment, and persecution solely because of their Christian faith," says Sajid Christopher, leader of Stefanus Alliance’s partner HFO in Pakistan.
Faith in the risen Christ comes at a great cost.
